DaKiya Lambert has studied at the Dance Institute of Washington, Jones-Haywood School of Ballet, the Atiya Center for Performing Arts and various other institutions in the Washington, DC area as well as completing a residency with the Dance Theatre of Harlem. While getting her Bachelor’s of Science degree from the University of Pittsburgh she was president and choreographer for Black Dance, a student dance organization on campus.
DaKiya began her professional dance career as a member of Xpressions Contemporary Dance Company in Pittsburgh, PA. With the company, she was given the opportunity to work with artists from prestigious companies such as Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, Dance Theatre of Harlem, Philadanco, Dallas Black Dance Theatre, and Dayton Contemporary Dance Company.
Upon returning to Washington, DC she began teaching and choreographing for various groups, churches and dance schools in the area. In 2005, DaKiya became the Director of Premiere Teen Dance Company. Under her direction, the company competed in and won several dance competitions in DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Her choreography has won numerous awards and some of her students have gone on to continue their dance careers.
In 2007, DaKiya fulfilled her lifelong dream of opening a dance studio: Dimensions. Since its inception, Dimensions has grown into a sought after school for the areas most talented dancers.age
